Global Business Skills

The GBS Course provides students with the opportunity to participate in mainstream Certificate IV in Business or Diploma of Business level classes for 5 week blocks as ‘audit’ students.

GBS students can choose which Business subjects are of most interest to them and as ‘audit’ students they will not be required to complete assessments.

In addition to learning global business skills, GBS student’s English language skills will be challenged through interaction with Certificate IV & Diploma of Business students, some of whom may be native speakers of English, and through exposure to using English language in a learning context that has not been modified for English language learners.

Course structure: 5 week blocks - (1-2 units per block)
Delivery mode: Face-to-Face or 'LIVE' online classes with guided learning through the Phoenix portal; Fully online option also available
Hours per week: Up to 15 hours/week lectures & tutorials + 5 hours/week online study
Academic entry requirements: None
English entry requirements: CEFR B1+/B2 / IELTS 5.5 overall with no score lower than 5.0 (or equivalent); or Australian Year 11 English

Capstone Project – 2024 IISMA

A practical opportunity for you to apply the skills and knowledge you have gained in your previous studies to a real-world scenario in event management, with a focus on aligning your event proposal to the key strategies of Tourism Western Australia (TWA). You will work in groups to develop a feasibility proposal, a marketing plan, and a presentation for an event concept that promotes Western Australia (WA) as a prime tourist destination.
